Well I booked a bit f time off work to get down to the nitty gritty of fighting all this rust. At the moment it almost seems like an endless task. However I’ve started ordering new metal now. So far I have placed an order with eurocarparts.com for the following:

810550051 C/PANEL-UNDER-LH
810550061 C/PANEL-UNDER-RH
810550071 DOOR SKIN(LOWER/LEFT) T1 1.2-1.6 08.60-07.78
810550081 DOOR SKIN(LOWER/RIGHT) T1 1.2-1.6 08.60-07.78
810550091 DOOR PLATE BOTTOM(LEFT) T1 1302/1303 08.70-07.78
810550101 DOOR PLATE BOTTOM(RIGHT) T1 1302/1303 08.70-07.78
810550161 REPAIR PLATE(LEFT/REAR) T1 08.660-07.78
810550171 WING REPAIR PLATE(RIGHT/REAR) T1 08.60-07.78
810550261 HEATER CHANEL(LEFT) T1 08.68>
810550271 HEATER CHANEL(RIGHT)T1 08.68>

This in total set me back £173.89, not too bad. Although there are still lots of things I need to get.

Wow the parts came very next day, that’s pretty cool. So what’s all that look like then, well when it’s in a box it looks a little bit like this:

Then when it’s unpacked, you find that most of the box was full of bubble wrap (mmm that will give me something to do when I’m board) and all these nice new bits of metal. It does not look a lot really when you consider the price but hey these bits are needed so what the hell.

Now before I can get started with all these new bits of metal I need to lose the rest of the rust in the beetle and then primer everything in site with that Hammerite anti rust primer stuff, just to make sure. problem now is that it’s started to rain (well it is winter) and I’m doing all this work on the drive as I don’t have a garage, doh.
